This week has been a special Birthday week, my two youngest grandlittle girls celebrated their first birthdays! Both enjoy walks and the outdoors so a little red wagon, a classic piece of childhood was delivered to little Ivy.
Being constructed of wood the wagon is very sturdy but not too comfy. So a pillow and cushion were needed plus the addition of die cut flower appliques perfect for a sweet little girl!
This pattern can be adapted to any size of wagon or even as a playmat by changing the measurements. Wagon size 16″ by 34″.
You will need:
Cut two pieces red 16″ by 32″ for cushion.
Cut two pieces of red 16″ by 12″ for pillow.
Die cut flowers from white felt.
Glue flowers onto pillow front and back pieces. Glue flower near corner of cushion piece.
Align cushion and pillow pieces together. Top stitch around three sides leaving a narrow end open on the cushion and pillow.
Stuff pillow with polyester stuffing. Topstitch end closed.
Trim foam piece to fit wagon. Insert foam into cushion open end. Fold foam to make inserting easier. Trim any excess off if needed. Topstitch end shut. Insert into wagon.
The felt is weather and mildew proof and will not fade so it will be enjoyed as long as the wagon is. As you can see baby Ivy is very happy with her wagon!
You can now find an expanded color line of Kunin Eco-fi Classicfelt; Eco-fiPlus™ Premiumfelt and ShaggiChic non-wovens fabrics in cut by the yard at your local Walmart; please inquire as to what is available in your area.
